our story

Antioch Daylily Garden is a family business owned and operated by Charlie and Lisa Farmer.  Charlie has a degree in Agronomy from the University of Kentucky and is retired from the Department of Agriculture in Lexington. Lisa has a degree in Agri-Business from Western Kentucky University and works full time as the Program Director for Adult Education in Paris.

In the fall of 2000, the Farmer family entered the daylily market upon the advice of a daylily expert who assured them that if they planted the flowers the daylily customers would come. The business began with 50 varieties and has since grown to more than 200 varieties. At least three other daylily businesses throughout the state have sprung from Antioch Daylily Garden. Visitors to the farm are usually helped by one of the Farmer children. Jonathon lives in Cincinnati and works as an Engineer for GE Aviation.   Morgan lives and works in Lexington as a Registered Nurse.  Brandon is in Medical School at UK and his wife Mara teaches at the high school in Clark County. The growth of the garden, the children, and the interaction with customers over the past 18 years has truly been a blessing.

about the garden

Antioch Daylily Garden is located between Lexington and Paris, Kentucky amid the legendary horse farms and scenic countryside of central Kentucky. We hope you will have an opportunity to visit us. When visiting our garden, expect to spend 30+ minutes walking the garden to select plants. We will dig, bag, and label all selections and give a bonus plant with every order. Many customers come and make their selections and then leave to have lunch in Paris or at nearby Windy Corner Market. Others take advantage of our lawn chairs and shade trees and a few moments of relaxation while the daylilies are being dug.

We are open the last two weekends in June and the first weekend in July for browsing and purchasing daylilies at our annual Daylily Days. We are not open on Sundays. Customers are welcome by appointment anytime before and after Daylily Days. We will ship orders starting the first week of April and ship until the end of October.
